Hello everyone! here I´m to show you a card I made yesterday

A few days ago I saw the cover of a music CD and immediately I got inspired by it. I plan to make more of these because I have to improve the technique of drawing straight lines directly on the card, but being my first one I´m very pleased with the result!

Hello my friends! here I am to show you a card I made (I finally could find the time to make it!)

I like how all that glitter makes it so soft and pretty. I colored the image (from Shelly´s Images) with colored pencils and blended them with gamsol.

I cut the words for the sentiment and glittered the borders before arranging them in the card with foam tape. The papers are from a Christmas paper pad (Aspen Frost from BasicGray) but I think they look great for a Valentine´s card too.

Winter is not my favorite season, but there are some things I really like when it´s cold outside: snuggle on the sofa with a warm and fragrant cup of tea and a good book, baking bread, baking cakes (and eating them afterwards!), oranges, tangerines and lemons; and crafting as much as I can... today I made this wonderful rustic bread on my new clay pot my sweetheart gave me these holidays, how I wish you could smell it and taste it, so crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside...

Door hanger and apple cake

Almost 2 weeks without posting... too much work, and little energy left to do it...

A few weeks ago we were cellebrating 300 members at Michelle Perkett´s group at PCP. Lynne set a challenge to make a door hanger as part of the cellebrations.

I couldn´t make it on time, but I made one anyway because the idea was great! thanks Lynne!! you are so creative...

 For this altered CD I used two Michelle Perkett´s images: Dream dragonfly and Summer. I colored them both with colored pencils. The papers are from my stash (cardstock) and Summer Driggs (patterned). I cut the papers with my cricut machine, layered them and stitched them following the contours, and in the inside circle I stitched some red glass beads. I twined a black bead wire around a pencil to make the handle where to hang the door hanger, and to finish it I write some words first with markers and then with fabric paint to stress them.

Last weekend I baked an apple cake I wanted to share. This is a simple cake, delicious if you take it still warm and it´s good as it is. And most important, you won´t have to worry about how to store it because there won´t be any leftovers!

The ingredients are simple and only the basic ones are needed: (use always the same measuring cup) put in a large bowl 2 cup all purpose flour, 1 cup white sugar, 3 teaspoons baking powder and a pinch of salt, mix it all and cut 2 sticks of cold butter with a fork or with the tip of your fingers until it resembles coarse sand.
Now you put it into the fridge to chill it a bit until you prepare the rest of the ingredients. In another bowl beat 1 egg and mix in 1 cup of milk, set this aside. Now turn on the oven at 350°F and prepare the pan by buttering and flowering it (I used 9x6 in pan), or butter the botton and sides of the pan and put a piece of parchment paper on the bottom and butter it again.

 

Take 4 medium apples (I use whatever apples I have), peel them, uncore them and slice them not to thin. Now you have everything to set you cake: put 1/3 of your flour sand-like mixture on the bottom of the pan, distribute it evenly but don´t press it. Put on top a layer of half the sliced apples (see the picture), you can sprinkle a bit (but not to much) of powdered cinnamon. Now add another third of the flour mixture and repeat the layers: apples, cinammon and finishing with a layer of flour mixture. Lastly, pour the milk-egg mixture on top of the cake and take it to the oven. Bake it until it turns golden brown, about 30-40 min. This cake gets better everytime you make it! hope you try this one, you´ll love it!

Rosie Luminary

I made this luminary to participate in Michelle Perkett Studio Challenge blog where this week we were challenged to make anything but a card. It´s my first time making one and I loved every second spent in it!

I used Rosie from Michelle Perkett as the main image that I colored with colored pencils and blended with gamsol.  The luminary body was cut with my cricut machine, I found the svg file at Penny Duncan blog. I traced, cut and glued patterned tissue paper on the windows.

I also stamped, colored and cut some roses to place here and there over the tussie paper panels along with the ones on Rosie digi stamp. I also added some rhinestones in the center of the 4 diamons. On the back of the luminary I pierced the boders, stitched lilac embroidery floss and made a bow to make the closing.

as I said, this one was my first luminary and I´m going to make more for sure, I have lots of ideas already!

Today is Easter Sunday, and in my country we usually have a sweet bread called Rosca de Pascua. It´s a brioche kind of bread, like a sweet roll made out of a yeast dough so it takes a day to make it (or several hours of raising), but it so good it´s worth the time spent making it.

Before baking the bread we decorate it with pastry cream (custard). Once it´s done and cooled we decorate it with cherries and glazed orange cut in thin strips, I only had dry cherries and a tiny piece or glazed orange but I was not disouraged! I made it anyway.... I love this bread, so much that I made a whole batch so now I have leftovers of the uncooked dough on the freezer for later sweet moments... Baby boy card and dessert

A baby boy card made for a friend who is going to be dad for the first time in a couple of months. I didn´t decided yet what to give him along with the card, something for the new born baby... something for the new parents... I don´t know yet...
The image is from Dawn Moore, she has so many cute images in her blog, you should go and check them. I colored the giraffe with colored pencils and blended them with gamsol. The papers are digital papers from Jaime Choi that I printed out on cardstock. I stamped the word BEBE (baby in spanish) with rubber stamps from Image Tree with black ink. And finaly the ribbon and button are from my stash.

For us Christians today is Holy Thursday and here in Spain it´s a holiday, as it is tomorrow (Holy Friday), so today I had MIL to share lunch with us. Besides the main meal I prepared a simple and sweet dessert. I thought I could share it with you too:

I started with a puffy pastry I bought at the supermarket, I rolled it out a bit on a flowered surface to make it thinner and larger, and I baked it for about 10 min at 400 F until it was golden brown. Meanwhile I prepared a 4 serving vainilla pudding with half the amount of milk called for and put it in the fridge to cool. Once the pastry was cooled I placed it on a serving plate and cut some fresh strawberries, canned peaches and pineaple (drain all the liquid while baking the pastry). Then I took out of the fridge the vainilla pudding and mixed in 2 greek plain yogurts until smooth and creamy. I put the cream on top of the pastry and decorated it with the fruits. Voilá! back to the fridge until dessert time. Such a simple dessert with so many good compliments, hope you can try it and if you do let me know how it was for you!  It´s a nice dessert because you can change the fruits and the flavor of the pudding as you like and a very easy one to do as well.

Believe in Mermaids...

There is a new challenge blog I found very interesting: I Love Digi Challenge Blog. I wanted to join in the fun because I manly do hybrid projects, since I discovered the digi world I put something on my cards, crafts, etc...
This week challenge is: Think pink, I love pink and I wanted to make a card for a dear friend and send it to her, it was the perfect match

I used Michelle Perkett Pearl digi stamp that I won on one of her challenges at PCP (my Tutti-Frutti mermaid in a box was the winner!!) and as usual I colored her with my loved colored pencils. I did the inside too

I´m showing it because it´s something I don´t do often... The music sheet is a page from an old music book that I painted with white acrilic paint, the book is old so all the pages look yellowish and I wanted an ivory look instead, therefore I painted the sheet twice with a very diluted paint and that´s the result. The patterned paper is from a very generous lady Rebecca that gave it for free, it is a digi scrapbook paper that I printed out on thin cardstock cut out and layered over the music sheet. I pierced the papers and stitched them adding some pearled glass beads. The wave border is a cut out I did with my Cricut. I used the negative cut to make the inside of the card, it looked so beautiful I didn´t want to waste it... and I wanted to add a bookmark to the card also

I´m sending my friend a book, I thought a bookmark will be a nice touch. I loved and ejoyed making this card so much, hope my friend likes it too!

Now into the delicious Oatmeal Rolls

they look good, right? all I can say is they tasted lot more better!! they were so soft, with a wondeful smell of oats, the right amount of sugar so they go great with savory or sweet toppings.

Even I had them with the Broccoli Cheddar Soup I made before... simply delicious, thanks once more for sharing Marilyn!! they are now part of my favorites breads.

A little something for Delia, a tag and yummy rolls

A few days ago I posted a calling made by Jenn to send a 10y-o girl Delia some cards to cheer her up. So generelously, Dustin Pike gave for free some owls images to use (Delia loves owls), and this is what I made to sent her

is an altered old CD, the image is colored with colored pencils that I turned out into a she owl adding a little flower, I made the sentiments on PS, I tied also a string of glass beads so it can be hung, the papers are from Provo Craft. I hope I can steal a smile from her little face with this little gift.

Yesterday we celebrate the birthday of a dear friend. We take a bottle of wine to give him and I made a tag to go along with it instead of a card

I used a Bugaboo digi stamp on one side, and a Michelle Perkett digi stamp on the other side of the tag, both images were colored with colored pencils and I added some glitter glue on the icing of the cakes.  I cut the tag with my Cricut and puched some little holes with a needle over the border. What a fun time we spent! we went back home at 5 am!!!

And lastly I promised I was going to show my mini rolls

I used a recipe from a famous cook and amazing baker in my country: Marcelo Vallejo. They turned out fine, they tasted really good. Anyway, they are not exactly like I wanted to be so there are two things I´m going to change on this recipe: temperature of the oven first, you can see the almost dark brown shade of the rolls... second I need to improve the flavor, I wanted garlic flavored rolls but they don´t taste much like garlic, so I´ll use more garlic next time. Here are some pictures of the stages you have to go over: 1) make the little balls, 2) let them rise and 3) baking!

Baby card and a recipe

Today I got great news a co-worker is pregnant! That´s so wonderful because she is the most sweet person I´ve worked with, competent, intelligent, funny and beautiful inside and outside, I´m so happy for her. The baby will be born by the end of July but I thought to send her an "Expecting" card meanwhile I think of what to make for her when the baby comes...

This card I made following Aly´s sketch for this week. The sketch is really good because it´s so versatile and the main focus is the image and that´s exactly what I needed. I´m for sure going to use it again. Thanks for another great sketch Aly!! The image is a cut I did with my cricut and you can find the svg image here. Paper is an old one from my stash, the sentiment is a dollar clear stamp I found at Michael´s a few years ago. I like the way this card turned out, it´s simple and yet lovely, I´m thinking to give it to her along with something else but I don´t know what... maybe a chocolate...

Most of my dinners are not a main dish, I thinking it might be my age.... I must be turning old because I can not have dinners as I used to.... I need something more light to have a good night sleep after. So, I usually have a tea with milk and something else preferably on a solid state.... sometimes I have a plain yogurt with a fruit cut into pieces or a tea with whole wheat toast... but last Sunday night I preprared this bread

this amazing and wonderfully tasting Seeded Flatbread is made out of seeds and whole wheat flour. The recipe calls for pumkin seeds but I didn´t have them at the time, so I skipped those and replace them (not completely) with sesame seeds. After it came out of the oven, still warm, we have them with some chesse and ham, we never tried it that way and it´s a delicious combination. The way we did have this flatbread before was at breakfast with sourcream and honey but it would make a wonderful brunch with whatever you fancy on top (scrambled eggs, fruit preserves, salads....), it´s good with either salty or sweet toppings.

I just realize we run out of ink in our printer.............. DISASTER!!!!!! we have to replace it.... soon....
