thinking of {YOU}

A few days ago I saw a challenge with this color combo and at first sight I found it very challenging...
but then I gave it a try (sadly it took me more time and I couldn´t play in the challenge... maybe next time?).

The card looks better IRL but I think you can see the details OK. I took a pretty patterned paper from my stash and cut two strips with an edge scissor that I layered them with a tulle ruffled ribbon. I stamped the sentiment and placed the image with foam tape.

The image is from Michelle Perkett colored with colored pencils and added a few details, glitter glue on the roses, dots of pearled paint on her hair and glossy accent on her lips. I really love the soft look all this colors together and the white background make, so pretty...

Today is my daughter 13th birthday, I think I said this last year too: where did the time go??? I can see in her a sprouting bud eager to bloom... what a blessing!

Hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday too!

I want to enter my card in the following challenges:

A cupcake

Hello everyone, here I have a cupcake to celebrate! I don´t have a birthday to celebrate yet but I like to make birthday cards. This one is a very simple card, fun to make and I´m pleased on the result, so I have something to celebrate indeed... I like this card a lot!
This gorgeous image is from Michelle Perkett that I colored with colored pencils, embellished with 3 rhinestones (can you find them?), cut out and placed on the card with foam tape. I stamped the sentiment on the card and then I embossed it, to give a different look I just rounded the corners.
This week at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday challenge we are challenging you to use a recipe: 2 of the following colors red, yellow, brown orange; and three of the following embellishments brad, ribbon, eyelet, button, flower, pearls or rhinestone. On this card I used red and yellow to color and three rhinestones as embellishments. Hope you can join us in the fun this week too ☺
Thanks for stopping by!

Life´s a beach!

Don´t you agree this image is cute, cute, cute??!!! love the tiny toes... It´s Penny from Michelle Perkett. I wanted this card to be as clean and simple as I could make it, I´m still wondering if it´s too clean and simple... anyway I like it a lot!
I colored the image with colored pencils and tried to give Penny a little tan since she is enjoying summer already. I glittered her swimming suit (because she is cute and therefore she has to sparkle).
And I applied that dimensional clear glue to the rubber ring, looks like the real one. After it dried I cut the image and placed it with foam tape to the card. Finally I glued the sentiment that is from another cute image from Michelle Perkett: Olive.
Thank you for stopping!

Love...

Love... Dream... Grow... Live...
I started this wall hanging with recycling a paper folder
Then I took a piece patterned paper I had for ages, love the bright colors it has! layered it with another piece of the same paper folder, stitched it around with embroidery floss and distressed the edges with scisors, then I placed it with foam tape. To give a little of sparkle I added some glitter glue on the patterned paper. Stamped the words with rubber stamps, cut them out individually, distressed the edges and placed them with foam tape too.
The image I´m using is Mary, Mary from Michelle Perkett, I colored it with colored pencils and added a few details: gloves and shoes have dimensional paint, a rhinestone on her head to replace one of the roses, turquoise glitter glue on the watering can and clear glitter glue on the water flowing from it.
The image is placed with foam tape too to add dimension.
I finish it with some old stikers to spell the word LOVE and a button; and to hang it I used a double piece of raffia. Very simple craft but very pleasing.

Celebrate with a pretty dress...

I´m loving this image! it´s Put on your party dress from Michelle Perkett. I colored the cute dress with colored pencils (no blending this time), glued some iridescent pink sequins and added tiny dots of pearl paint on the center of the flowers.
It might look a time consuming card but surprisingly it´s not; it took me less than one hour to finish it all, stitches included! So here is how I made it: I took a scrap piece of patterned paper and layered it with pink cardstock, then I added dots of pearl paint around the DP and added a few on it. Because I´m following Michelle Perkett Studio challenge sketch, I faux stitched strips with white gel pen and I real stitched light pink glass sees beads on their centers.
Then I placed the DP with foam tape on the center of the card, and on top of it I placed the image (with foam tape too), and added a sentiment that is an old clear sticker.
It looks better in real life, but I don´t have good light at home to take pictures at night... Thanks for looking!!

Snow one like you...

This is a card I made this weekend, I´m using some digital paper I was not able to remember where I found it, if you know, please let me know and I´ll give credit of it, it´s so beautiful! soft and pretty colors...
The image is Snow Goddess from Michelle Perkett colored with colored pencils and placed it with foam tape. It´s a very simple card: I ruffled a piece of ribbon, added a felt snowflake that I glued a flower on its center and decorated with glass seed beads, the most demanding part was coloring the image but it´s so gorgeous you don´t mind spending some time in it at all!

Wishing peace

Another Christmas card, and I think it´s one of the last I´ll make this year, not because I don´t like them, on the contrary! it´s too late to send them now!!
On to my card again: I used Earth from Michelle Perkett (you can find her beautiful images here) that I colored with colored pencils, some parts are blended with mineral oil. I added dots of white pearl paint on the centers of the flowers and a few green rhinestones.
I pleated a piece of red ribbon to embellish the front of the card and attached the image with foam tape. The base of the card is an opaque acetate sheet (those you find at office supplies to bind sheets) I saved from the bin (again!) at work. I added clear stickers to write the sentiment.
On the inside I glued the patterned paper, it´s a very festive gift wrapping paper, loved the colors! I cut the borders with edge scissors and added the sentiment (from Elisa) with foam tape too and a bit of the same red ribbon. And that´s it! simple but I like it a lot too ☺

Autum Mermaid...

I´m changing things around my house and I have this mirror that was screaming to be decorated before going to the wall. I used Just Breathe from Michelle Perkett, this is mermaid my second favorite image from Michelle, it´s so beautiful, I love coloring this image, whatever you do to it you´ll never go wrong.
The mermaid is colored with colored pencils in autumn colors: yellow, orange, red and green. Took four felt leaves and glued them on the mermaid instead of the flowers it original has, added two seashells and sparkled them with some orange chunk glitter. I cut the image carefully around, not an easy task I must add... there are some curls missing... can you find them?! After it was all cut I placed it on the mirror with double sided tape. And that´s it! pretty simple but stunning effect, there was no way for me to take a decent picture on mirrors...sorry about that, but believe me it´s looking great!

A calendar for {MOM}

The third Sunday of October (the 17th this year) is Mother´s day in my country. I made a calendar to give as a present on that day.
I´m using Thanks Mum from Michelle Perkett, I colored the image with colored pencils (and blended with gamsol the skin parts) and placed it on the calendar with foam tape. I added glitter glue on the child dress and glued some blue glass seed beads on the mother´s dress.
The calendar was computer generated, I used Stamp III from Sueli Colbert and I made a flower with some tulle, felt, paper flower and glass seed beads, and I finished it with a heart pin. I pierced around the calendar with a thin needle and draw a heart with pencils on the 17th to highlight the date.
here is a front view to show the last details: rhinestones on the calendar flower swirl and glitter glue to framing it.

Mermaid song...

Michelle Perkett Studio Challenge blog this week is challenging us to use a tag on our projects, and they gave me the excuse to make this tag/bookmark using this gorgeous image: Eva the glam mermaid by Michelle Perkett.
I colored the image with colored pencils blended with gamsol and added dots of crystal glitter on some of the pearls of her "dress". I placed the image on the tag with foam tape for dimension.
The paper I used is from a very talented lady Julia van der Werf, I cut it in half and glued each one on each side of the tag, so I have the same paper on the back where I left a place to write a personalized sentiment. I added  a ruffled lace ribbon, made a hole on the top, tied a piece of sheer ribbon with a big pink bead (all from my stash) through it and finished the tag with crystal glitter glue.
A very easy, quick and simple one! hope you like it!!

Dream in pink

Did you see how trendy is to use fabric on your crafts? I wanted to give it a try too and I glued shinny pink fabric (a scrap from a Halloween costume I made for my daughter a few years ago) to a piece of paper, once it was dry I used it like patterned paper. The fabric is great! looks like a hologram, changes colors, it´s so beautiful to the eye, so bad I can not put that onto a picture to show you...
I used Dream dragonfly from Michelle Perkett , I colored the image with colored pencils and added a rhinestone on the dragonfly´s head. Cut around the image and placed it on the card with foam tape.
A piece of lace, stitched pink glass seed beads and a scrap of pink paper finish the card. A simple card, I love how the colors go together and how the fabric shines!

Summer Fun!

I was in need of some bright colors to lift my spirits, and this card is definitely bright for my standards. It did me well because now taking a look at it reminds me how much fun we had this summer at the beach... and it makes me smile :-)
the gorgeous little cute girls is Olivia a freebie Michelle Perkett so generously gave at her groups on PCP and CDAC (if you are not a member yet, join us!! you don´t want to miss the fun!). I colored Olivia with colored pencils (she got a tan!), cut around and added a few dots of glitter paint on the sand before placing her with foam tape on the card.
The patterned paper is a very (very) old paper from my stash. To embellish the card I made a flower layering two of them with a smiley button as its center, I painted with glitter paint three sea shells my DD and I took from the beach and to finish I added 3 punched butterflies and dots of glitter around the patterned paper.

{back to school} mood...

it´s a great feeling to be inspired, lots of ideas popping into my brain... but why do I have to wait until the last day???!!! well... that´s me!
I made another pencil holder with these adorable cups (first pencil holder here). This time I used Mary Margaret, teacher´s pet from Michelle Perkett (her Etsy shop here!)
this is my first paper piecing work and I LOVED the technique! I don´t know why I didn´t use it before... I printed the image twice: one on white paper and another on a digitalized dictionary text made by Mel (if you can visit her awesome blog, you won´t regret it!). I took the white image and colored it with colored pencils leaving out the dress. I cut around her arms to make room so I could slip under the dress. Then I colored MM´s dress with colored pencils, cut it and glued it to the base image, and I slipped a piece of cardstock under her dress and the apple to give a little bit of dimension.
To decorate the cup I started with a strip of craft paper and distressed it with chalks. I made two borders to layer the craft paper: the first one I cut it with a hand drawn scalloped shape and the second one with edge scissors, and distressed them both before attaching them to the craft paper. The apples: I started with a scrap of polka dot paper and printed on the wrong side apples, cut them around and distressed them also. Took some green felt and cut three circles that I decorated their borders with decorative stitches, my first try! that´s why they are not even at all... I found how in a very old fabric dolls book that belonged to my grandma. And I finished the apples with buttons my MIL saved for me with a couple of stitches to hold everything together before gluing them to the pencil holder.

The pencils on the first picture seemed to plain, so I made tags for them. My first inchies!! (I´m full of firsts today!) I cut four 1.5 in diameter circles of craft cardstock and decorating them with scraps of everything.
Side 1
Side 2
Part of the images are from Shirley´s 2 girls and I colored them also with colored pencils. I distressed the edges with chalks, added some stickers (hearts and stars), used edge scissors, doodled with white gel pen, used scraps of felt, made a hole with a paper punch and tied them to the pencils with raffia.
Hope you like my project and maybe inspired you to make a set like this one too!

Write a story...

and share it with your friends!
I altered this notebook for my daughter, she likes to write and I thought this would be a nice gift for her now that a new school year is approaching.
the image is Stella the summer story teller by Michelle Perkett (you can find it here). Coloring this too-cute image made me spend a wonderful time, I used almost all my coloring mediums: colored pencils, crayons, oil pastels, chalks and eye shadow; some parts are blended with gamsol, some with mineral oil and others without blending. I matted the image with patterned papers and doodled a line around them like a frame, I was not careful at all while drawing them and I think they go good with the image.
the sentiment is hand written on the patterned paper with gel pen. The papers are from Summer Driggs, you can see her wonderful work here. I hand cut a scalloped border on the orange paper and I traced it with gel pen also. The faux stitching is a rub on I had for ages. And I finished the notebook with a flower made out of the DP (a left over flower from this project!). It´s a simple decoration but I didn´t want to add anything too bulky or something that could be easily broken, I want my daughter to use it and share her stories.
Hope you like it!

Back to school!

That time of the year again!! Loved all my first days of school, even at college they were special to me, all the expectation, new pencils, new notebook pads, sometimes new friends, new teachers, new things to learn... I made this card for my daughter´s first day of school, I hope she likes it! I´m also preparing some other goodies for her to open after school, I´ll show them as I finish them.
I took a plain craft card and rounded the corners, then I followed Clean & Simple sketch #101 (I used it before here), after that I rummaged my stash of scraps and found those I used to make last year´s first day of school card too, but I still like them a lot so I decided to use them again. Paper and row of pencils are part of a blog train I followed last year (couldn´t find the files to give credit of them). And slowly the sketch turned into a pencil box (not my original idea at all!!). Took a strip of craft paper and cut with edge scissors, I added some rhinestones to glitter it up a bit and hand wrote back to school! with gel pen. To make the shadows around the box and pencils I used my dark brown make up that I rarely use on me because is too dark for my skin... love the effect here.
The image I used is Mary Margaret, teacher´s pet from Michelle Perkett (her Etsy shop here) that I colored with colored pencils (and only blend them on the skin parts with mineral oil), I cut Mary and place her on the card with foam tape, to finish it I added a rhinestone on her bow.
Pretty simple but I like the result, hope you like it too! I´m participating at:
