A tweet home

There is a great challenge waiting for you at Glitterbabe´s challenge this week, you don´t want to miss it! and here is my inspirational creation for you. The sketch I chose is one from Inkspiration Challenge blog (a past one, but I like it very much!), I embellished the front of my card with a leather flower that I tied with raffia, two brads and glitter glue. The papers are from Summer Driggs.

The image is Tweet Street from Nana Vic (please, do stop by her place, you´ll love everything she has!), I colored it with colored pencils, this image has a lot of beautiful details and I was a bit scared of not being able to show all its beauty, but I´m very pleased with the result!

On the inside is the sentiment that I computer generated with PS, I found it on a very (very) old craft book I bought years ago and I think it fits very well with the image. I matted it with patterned paper and a scrap of the same red cardstock and placed it with foam tape for dimension. The additional image is from Karen Kindrich that I colored with colored pencils too, glittered its border and glued it to the card. I added as embellishments a couple of resin pumpkins to be used as bulge for the open card and a string of raffia .

Got candy??

Thursday my friends! that means it´s time to inspire you at Glitterbabe´s Challenge! This week I made a very simple card.
I took a piece of yellow-mustard-like cardstock that I folded into a card. Since I don´t have any embossing machine and I wanted so very badly emboss the front I did it myself, I just draw some lines perpendicular to each other on the third bottom part of the card. I distressed the edges of the card with chalks.

The images are Sitting scarecrow from Glitterbabe, and the candy corn tree and sentiment are from Elisa. I colored the images with colored pencils and added glitter to the moon (turned into a sun by me) and on the cutie scarecrow. The scarecrow is placed with foam tape on the card.
To finish it all I used a small black clothespin that I decorated it with a candy corn sticker to hold the image and placed them with foam tape too.

This is a front view for you to see how neat I made the embossed lines! I´m so proud of myself!!!

Trick or treat!

I love all the excitement kids get around this time of the year, knocking neighbour doors to get their treats... or tricks! my daughter has already her costume, this year she´ll be the winter queen!
Today at Glitterbabe´s Challenge we are challenging you to frame your creation, we are also being sponsored by JLJ Designs, such cute images! we were able to work with some of them, I chose this too cute Trick or treat image that I used to make a door hanger,

I cut a square of cardboard that I covered first with a piece of yellow cardstock and then glued tissue patterned paper with those great swirls, so it gets a bit translucent to the yellow. I colored the image with crayons and blended them with mineral oil, cut them all apart and placed them on the hanger with foam tape and embellished some parts with glitter. Sorry about the picture, it was too sunny and you can not see well the colors, they are lot more vibrant...
With pop tabs, painted with purple acrylic paint and glittered afterwards, I threaded a shear ribbon and tied a knot on a corner after gluing them with the hot gun.
The cute cat is a Halloween sticker that I also added with foam tape, and finished the hanger with fibers to decorate the border (and hide the cardboard) and to make the handle where to hang it.

Thursday. That means it´s time to create for Glitterbabe´s Challenge blog! did you notice my new banner???? NO?!?!  just take a look! yep!! I´m a Glitterbug now, I have a new DT assignment with Stef, a very sweet, funny and talented lady who is giving me a great opportunity and I hope we all can have a great time. You are invited too!!
This is a Halloween set composed of a treat bag and a card. Because this week we are being sponsored by Deedee´s digis I´m showing you my creation with one of her images: Sweetest treats, it comes with a wonderful set of sentiments too!

I printed two images, colored them with crayons and blended them with mineral oil, and finish them with glitter... LOTS of glitter on the butterfly-bear wings. I took a scrap of patterned paper and layered it with a piece of black paper that I cut with edge scissors. I pleated a strip of crêpe black paper and attached it to the patterned paper with a piece of purple ribbon. I faux stitched around the patterned paper with a fine black marker and placed the image with foam tape.

The treat bag is a paper lunch bag and I closed it with a paper clip that can be used as a bookmark too.

Here is a closer view of the clip, I used a sentiment that came along with the image. The border around it is computer generated, cut it, colored it with chalks and glued it to the clip. To finish it I tied a piece of the same ribbon with a knot.

On the card I did basically the same but on the sentiment I used flower shape instead of a circular one, I also colored it with chalks before placing it on the card with foam tape.

glittery day

At first glance this card doesn´t look like it has much glitter, true, the one I used this time is so thin that sticks everywhere like if I´d used tons of it... but I love it, it sparkles and shines a lot!

The image is Flower girl from Glitterbabe, I colored it with colored pencils in shades of soft pink and a bit of green. I added white crystal glitter that I found in a craft store a few days ago and I really had to have it.
I used some digital papers from Summer Driggs, the sentiment is from Jaime (I love it! and I used it before here) that I mat it with a scrap of black paper. I pierced around the central circle, stitched black glass seed beads with embroidery floss and glued some pink seed beads on the centers of some flowers on the paper. I embellished the card with a heart, a flower and three punch butterflies, all of them I decorated with white crystal glitter and that thin pink glitter I told you about. I placed the embellishments and the image with foam tape on the card and I glued the butterflies here and there...

I´m very pleased how this card turned out, hope you like it too!

Be Aware!

That´s what I wrote on the inside of this card.
It´s my first breast cancer awareness card, but it won´t be the last because I´m making a few more. And while looking for a sentiment to add to my card before starting it I searched for "breast cancer quotes", and I come across some very bad comments about the campaigns of awareness, the pink color, the humorous quotes (they said) are not taking seriously the illness, and it left me thinking about it... Cancer is bad enough to take it slightly, true, but it´s bad enough as not to try to make the best of it. Life is short and most of the times it´s not a bed of roses, but through my personal experience I learnt to make the best of every situation, lift up my face to the sun and keep forward, so to be truthful to those brave woman who face cancer, I made my card pink because I care!

Here is a closer picture of the image, I´m using Support, a freebie Stef (from Glitterbabe) so generously gave. I colored the image with colored pencils and glittered the filigree with silver glitter. I used a scrap of cardstock (from my stash), a scrap of patterned paper (from Jaime), and a gorgeous paper I bought a few days ago, it has a wonderful texture and a bit of transparency.
I tied a ribbon on the front, embellished it with a rose (I made another one before here) and hand wrote the sentiment with a gray marker.

Summer Fun!

I was in need of some bright colors to lift my spirits, and this card is definitely bright for my standards. It did me well because now taking a look at it reminds me how much fun we had this summer at the beach... and it makes me smile :-)

the gorgeous little cute girls is Olivia a freebie Michelle Perkett so generously gave at her groups on PCP and CDAC (if you are not a member yet, join us!! you don´t want to miss the fun!). I colored Olivia with colored pencils (she got a tan!), cut around and added a few dots of glitter paint on the sand before placing her with foam tape on the card.

The patterned paper is a very (very) old paper from my stash. To embellish the card I made a flower layering two of them with a smiley button as its center, I painted with glitter paint three sea shells my DD and I took from the beach and to finish I added 3 punched butterflies and dots of glitter around the patterned paper.

Cupcakes!!

These gorgeous cupcakes are from 2 Cute Rubber Stamps, a freebie Heidi so generously gave to participate at her challenge blog.

I used as inspiration the colors and positioning of the cutties the Cupcake inspiration challenge #74 (sadly I didn´t make it on time...). I tried also to keep it simple and only used a white gel pen to faux stitch the squares and write the sentiment

I colored the images with colored pencils, added glitter glue on the frosting for some sparkling effect, and I placed them with foam tape on the card.

I printed five cupcakes just in case and I had one left, so I decided to use it to make a small card (those you can put along with your present in a paper bag) with scraps of paper I had around.

I colored the image again with colored pencils but this time I blended them with mineral oil. And instead of glittering the frosting I glittered the paper, I added a couple of brads too. The sentiment is from TLC creations.

Beauty

I had a tiny piece of brown cardstock that was screaming to be turned into a bookmark, and that´s exactly what I did fulfilling its wishes (the size of the finished bookmark is 1.75x4 in).
I used (again) my patterned paper made out of paper napkins and scraps of paper that I distressed a bit with chalks. I gave some shape to the fold of the bookmark with edge scissors, to finish it I tied a piece of brown ribbon with a knot around the front and glued some glass seed beads.

The image is Bird on branch from Glitterbabe colored with colored pencils, embellished with glitter, cut and placed on the front with foam tape. On the tip of the branch I added a sakura flower (cut from the patterned paper).

On the back I hand wrote an inspirational quote from Confucius with gel pen and glued a piece of the same brown ribbon.
