Tarjetería Solidaria - ♥ - {Cardmaking for a cause}

Hello everyone! as every Friday afternoon we get together to make some cards and papercrafts to help others (see more about it here and here). This time we learnt how to use dies. These are my cards:

Hola! como casi todos los viernes por la tarde nos juntamos para hacer unas tarjetas (o manualidades en papel) para ayudar a los que mas lo necesitan. Esta vez aprendimos a usar troqueles. Y aca les muestros las tarjetitas que hice:

The first one is soooo pretty in real life! I used printed vellum paper, I love those yellow roses! and some scraps of green paper to cut the butterflies. I added a sentiment from Latina Crafter and some black rhinestones.

En la primera use papel vegetal que tiene impreso una rosas amarillas preciosas ¡me encanta este papel! con otros recortes de papel verde corté las mariposas a las que les puse unos estás negros (imitacion de diamantes negros). Y termine la tarjeta con un sello de Latina Crafter.

An on the second one I used a very large butterfly die I cut twice one on pink neon cardstock and on vellum. I superimposed both butterflies, curled a bit its wings before placing it to the card and I embellished it with rhinestones. To finish my card I punched its bottom and stamped a pretty sentiment (also from Latina Crafter).

Y en mi segunda tarjeta use el troquel mas grande, corte dos mariposas: una en rosa neon y otra en papel vegetal. Las superpuse y curve un poquito sus alas, tambien les puse brillo con unos estrás mas grandes. Para terminarla perforé la arte inferior y use tambien un sello de Latina Crafter.

Hello my friends! I´m still here! with a lot of work and a little time to craft, but here I am with something to share with you all.

How cute is this image??!!! it´s Big deal birthday from Digi´s with attitude that I colored with colored pencils and glittered everywhere!

Today is Thursday, that means we are having another great challenge at Glitterbabe´s challenge blog, we are challenging you to use buttons and this is my inspirational creation I made for you. I´ts a coaster that I altered to turned it into a mobile, that´s why I decorated both sides

I used craft cardstock from my stash to cover both sides of the coaster, then I took a piece of this beautiful patterned paper (a gift wrap from my stash also) and added a circle on the front and scalloped edges on the back. I added stitches and buttons both sides: around the circle on the front and around the sentiment on the back part (placed with foam tape). The sentiments are from TlcCreations, wonderful too! To hung it I put a string of fishing line and decorated it with some large glass seed beads before gluing the cardstock.

Free digi and Challenge at 2 Cute Rubber Stamps!

2 Cute Rubber Stamps is hosting a challenge!!!!

This is the inspirational creation I made for you.

I printed the image directly on the card, that was something I wanted to give it a try and this one was the perfect excuse! And also printed it on a scrap of patterned paper that I paper pieced the bottom and glued it to the card. I hand wrote the sentiment on a strip of white paper, cut it in a flag like shape, curled it a bit and attached it to the card with a button from my stash (knotted with a piece of red embroidery floss).

I colored the three cute pumpkins with colored pencils and added green rhinestones to gave them a bit of sparkling.

On the opposite corner of the sentiment I embellished the card with three felt leaves, a clear button that I glued a scrap of green paper on the bottom and tied it with embroidery floss also.

Thursday. That means it´s time to create for Glitterbabe´s Challenge blog! did you notice my new banner???? NO?!?!  just take a look! yep!! I´m a Glitterbug now, I have a new DT assignment with Stef, a very sweet, funny and talented lady who is giving me a great opportunity and I hope we all can have a great time. You are invited too!!
This is a Halloween set composed of a treat bag and a card. Because this week we are being sponsored by Deedee´s digis I´m showing you my creation with one of her images: Sweetest treats, it comes with a wonderful set of sentiments too!

I printed two images, colored them with crayons and blended them with mineral oil, and finish them with glitter... LOTS of glitter on the butterfly-bear wings. I took a scrap of patterned paper and layered it with a piece of black paper that I cut with edge scissors. I pleated a strip of crêpe black paper and attached it to the patterned paper with a piece of purple ribbon. I faux stitched around the patterned paper with a fine black marker and placed the image with foam tape.

The treat bag is a paper lunch bag and I closed it with a paper clip that can be used as a bookmark too.

Here is a closer view of the clip, I used a sentiment that came along with the image. The border around it is computer generated, cut it, colored it with chalks and glued it to the clip. To finish it I tied a piece of the same ribbon with a knot.

On the card I did basically the same but on the sentiment I used flower shape instead of a circular one, I also colored it with chalks before placing it on the card with foam tape.
Hope you like my project as much as I do! do you think my daughter will like it? this is exactly the same costume as the first one I made for my little one on her first Halloween, here the two of us adding details and Maria wearing the final product

Yep! it´s my birthday today, and NOPE I´m not telling how old I´m now!
It´s very easy for me to think of presents for everybody but I had always a hard time to find something for me, so I made myself this envelope where I put some money as a self-gift and I told to myself to spend it without regrets!

This cute image is Ratiny in a cupcake from Softpencil, Elizabeth has such beautiful images at her shop, you should go and see for yourself, they are completely cute! I started by decorating the envelope using some old patterned papers from my stash that I faux stitched around them with fine markers. Took a brown ribbon and I tied it with a bow, a scrap of the same ribbon and a button are the decoration of the closing.

I printed the image twice, I colored one of them with colored pencils, from the other I cut the frosting of the cupcake that I glittered with my new white crystal glitter (I´m loving this stuff!!!) and placed it with foam tape for dimension on the colored one, do you see the frosty effect? it´s so beautiful in real life! I wish I could take better pictures... Here is another angle picture so you can see Ratiny hidding behind

I decorated the cupcake with a flower and a button (from my stash also) and some heart stickers. I placed the image with foam tape on the envelope, hand wrote the sentiment with fine markers and voilá! very easy and finished in no time.

glittery day

At first glance this card doesn´t look like it has much glitter, true, the one I used this time is so thin that sticks everywhere like if I´d used tons of it... but I love it, it sparkles and shines a lot!

The image is Flower girl from Glitterbabe, I colored it with colored pencils in shades of soft pink and a bit of green. I added white crystal glitter that I found in a craft store a few days ago and I really had to have it.
I used some digital papers from Summer Driggs, the sentiment is from Jaime (I love it! and I used it before here) that I mat it with a scrap of black paper. I pierced around the central circle, stitched black glass seed beads with embroidery floss and glued some pink seed beads on the centers of some flowers on the paper. I embellished the card with a heart, a flower and three punch butterflies, all of them I decorated with white crystal glitter and that thin pink glitter I told you about. I placed the embellishments and the image with foam tape on the card and I glued the butterflies here and there...

I´m very pleased how this card turned out, hope you like it too!

Summer Fun!

I was in need of some bright colors to lift my spirits, and this card is definitely bright for my standards. It did me well because now taking a look at it reminds me how much fun we had this summer at the beach... and it makes me smile :-)

the gorgeous little cute girls is Olivia a freebie Michelle Perkett so generously gave at her groups on PCP and CDAC (if you are not a member yet, join us!! you don´t want to miss the fun!). I colored Olivia with colored pencils (she got a tan!), cut around and added a few dots of glitter paint on the sand before placing her with foam tape on the card.

The patterned paper is a very (very) old paper from my stash. To embellish the card I made a flower layering two of them with a smiley button as its center, I painted with glitter paint three sea shells my DD and I took from the beach and to finish I added 3 punched butterflies and dots of glitter around the patterned paper.

{back to school} mood...

it´s a great feeling to be inspired, lots of ideas popping into my brain... but why do I have to wait until the last day???!!! well... that´s me!
I made another pencil holder with these adorable cups (first pencil holder here). This time I used Mary Margaret, teacher´s pet from Michelle Perkett (her Etsy shop here!)

this is my first paper piecing work and I LOVED the technique! I don´t know why I didn´t use it before... I printed the image twice: one on white paper and another on a digitalized dictionary text made by Mel (if you can visit her awesome blog, you won´t regret it!). I took the white image and colored it with colored pencils leaving out the dress. I cut around her arms to make room so I could slip under the dress. Then I colored MM´s dress with colored pencils, cut it and glued it to the base image, and I slipped a piece of cardstock under her dress and the apple to give a little bit of dimension.

To decorate the cup I started with a strip of craft paper and distressed it with chalks. I made two borders to layer the craft paper: the first one I cut it with a hand drawn scalloped shape and the second one with edge scissors, and distressed them both before attaching them to the craft paper. The apples: I started with a scrap of polka dot paper and printed on the wrong side apples, cut them around and distressed them also. Took some green felt and cut three circles that I decorated their borders with decorative stitches, my first try! that´s why they are not even at all... I found how in a very old fabric dolls book that belonged to my grandma. And I finished the apples with buttons my MIL saved for me with a couple of stitches to hold everything together before gluing them to the pencil holder.

The pencils on the first picture seemed to plain, so I made tags for them. My first inchies!! (I´m full of firsts today!) I cut four 1.5 in diameter circles of craft cardstock and decorating them with scraps of everything.

Part of the images are from Shirley´s 2 girls and I colored them also with colored pencils. I distressed the edges with chalks, added some stickers (hearts and stars), used edge scissors, doodled with white gel pen, used scraps of felt, made a hole with a paper punch and tied them to the pencils with raffia.

Beauty

I had a tiny piece of brown cardstock that was screaming to be turned into a bookmark, and that´s exactly what I did fulfilling its wishes (the size of the finished bookmark is 1.75x4 in).
I used (again) my patterned paper made out of paper napkins and scraps of paper that I distressed a bit with chalks. I gave some shape to the fold of the bookmark with edge scissors, to finish it I tied a piece of brown ribbon with a knot around the front and glued some glass seed beads.

The image is Bird on branch from Glitterbabe colored with colored pencils, embellished with glitter, cut and placed on the front with foam tape. On the tip of the branch I added a sakura flower (cut from the patterned paper).

On the back I hand wrote an inspirational quote from Confucius with gel pen and glued a piece of the same brown ribbon.

A very simple card, the ones I love most! I started with acetate that I cut and folded into a card. I took a piece of handmade patterned paper (made out of paper napkins following this technique) and matted it to a scrap of brown cardstock before attaching it to the inside of the card.

I colored this gorgeous butterfly from Softpencil with colored pencils, cut around it, curled its wings a bit to add dimension and placed it on the front of the card. I cut a few flowers from the patterned paper and adhered them also to the front. To make the sentiment I cut two strips of paper from an old book (I liked the yellowish color of the pages) one with half of the sentiment for the outside and the other one with the rest of it for the inside.

A sweet day

yesteday I woke up with the need of coloring one of those cute Bugaboo images and to make a card using one of the sketches I had on my notebook for such a long time that I don´t recall where I saw it (if you do, please let me know and I´ll give credit of it).
The DP is a free digi from Daisy Company Four Seasons backgrounds. I love how summery it looks. Before printing it out I digitally placed a TlcCreations sentiment. Once I glued it to the front of the card, I cut a circle and stitched some yelow glass seed beads with embroidery floss. I love to stitch my cards, it always gives me a quiet time that brings nice memories and makes me think of my mom (maybe because she taught me to do it?). To finish the front I ruffled a piece of red ribbon from my stash.

 This cute image (Summer Butterfly Bears - Ice cream) was colored with colored pencils and added glitter on the strawberry flavored ice cream.

On the inside I stamped one my old clear stamps, I love those flowers but I don´t know why I don´t use it more often... Instead of coloring the flowers I glittered them and added some tiny dots of pearled paint. I placed the image with foam tape and another piece of the same red ribbon.

This is my first "altered book" and my first hidden poem. Some years ago I come across altered book techniques and I was completely appealed by the idea to make my own someday. This page belongs to a book in spanish but I tried to make the translation as best as I could.

Here is the page attached to a piece of craft cardstock before I added the embellishments and image for you to see. I started with selecting the words of my poem and draw a line around each of them with a black pen before painting the page with acrylic paints. After everything was dry I cut the page with the shape I wanted and connected the words in the correct order to make the poem. Then I mat it with a deep blue magazine page (a car advertisement), cut a strip of the same paper, punch it and glued to the page. I stitched some glass beads and attached the whole page to the cardstock.

The image is Arianna from Michelle Perkett (her Etsy shop here) colored with colored pencils that I added dots of orange acrylic paint to her hair before cutting it and place it with foam tape. I love to color this image, it´s gorgeous! one of my favorites...

I made another ribbon rose, but this time following this video tutorial, it took me three tries to get it right but now I think I got the technique. I wanted to add some pins but I didn´t have any with matching colors, so I took two and painted glue on their pearled heads and rolled them gently on glitter, tapped the excess and let it dry, and I finished the whole rose by stitching some glass beads on its center too.

I wanted this project to be hung on the wall so I strung some raffia and made a bow on the top. My project is not literally an altered book but it´s an altered page of a book (close?), even though I like how it turned out.
